Wallsend Dog Off-Leash Area

Unit 23/53 B53, Wallsend, NSW

3.4(26 reviews)

Wallsend Dog Off-Leash Area is a sprawling and picturesque public space located within a residential suburb in Australia. The park is characterized by its vast, undulating green lawns that offer a significant amount of space for dogs of all sizes to exercise and socialize. The primary ground surface is well-kept grass, providing a soft and natural area for play. While the park is not fully enclosed, sections of black chain-link fencing are visible, particularly where the park borders residential properties on higher ground. The landscape features a mix of flat expanses and gentle slopes, which can be seen in the aerial and ground-level views. Mature trees are dotted throughout the area, providing pockets of natural shade for both pets and their owners. A unique aspect of this park is the presence of a natural creek with flowing water and lush bankside vegetation, contributing to a serene and scenic atmosphere. The park's open-plan design and lack of restrictive internal barriers make it a popular choice for off-leash activities, allowing dogs to roam freely across the large grassy fields.

Not bad when you need a stop Newcastle way with the hounds. BUT... when we went, the creek had so many mosquitoes I had to leave within seconds! The park is at least mowed so snakes not that much of a concern, but it is near a major road and to park you have to go to a no through road (it's not obvious).

NOT suitable at all as a dog off-leash area. This is a small strip of grass on the side of a busy road, with no where to easily park your car.

Convenient area for locals to let their dogs have a run around. BE AWARE though that there is no fencing between the area and Lake Rd (a major and busy roadway) making safety an issue if your pet is off leash and likes to chase vehicles or …

Beautiful spot , so much fauna and flora . Shameful that people are not picking up their rubbish or dog poo and it runs into Ironbark creek .
