Redhead Dog Exercise Area

57 Elsdon St, Redhead, NSW

4.3(46 reviews)

This dog park, identified by signage as the Gateshead Dog Exercise Area, offers a sprawling and picturesque environment for canine recreation. The park is characterized by its vast open spaces, featuring a mix of grassy fields and direct access to both a calm lakeside shore and a wide sandy beach. A central feature is the large, permanent picnic shelter which houses several picnic tables, offering a shaded communal space for visitors. The area is naturally shaded by mature trees scattered throughout the grounds. According to on-site signage, the park functions as an off-leash area during specific weekday morning hours. The terrain is largely flat with a slight natural slope towards the water's edge. While the park lacks visible fencing, agility equipment, or specialized small-dog enclosures, its sheer size and proximity to the water make it an ideal spot for active dogs. Tall floodlights in the distance indicate the park is adjacent to larger recreational facilities. The overall atmosphere is serene and community-oriented, emphasizing natural beauty and outdoor exercise.

It's a good place I suppose, water was nice when we went. It's not like most parks where you're free to take the ducks; at this joint you can't take a dog/s home with you.

Plenty of space, but it's not fully fenced, and there's no water or rubbish facilities.
