Coppin St &, Barkly Ave, Richmond, VIC

4.7(20 reviews)

Barkly Gardens Dog Off Leash Area is a spacious and well-maintained urban park located in the City of Yarra. The park features expansive, flat grassy fields that provide a perfect environment for dogs to run and socialize freely. It is characterized by its beautiful, mature leafy trees that offer significant natural shade, making it comfortable even on warmer days. The park is partially enclosed by low metal fencing, maintaining an open and integrated feel within the larger garden landscape. On-site facilities include several park benches for owners to relax and picnic tables for community use. A unique and charming feature is a community-led tennis ball basket attached to a tree, serving as a memorial for a local dog. The atmosphere is serene and welcoming, with clear signage and maps delineating the designated off-leash zones. The primary ground surface is lush natural grass, which appears well-cared for despite high usage. While the park does not feature specialized agility equipment or dedicated small-dog enclosures, its large open spaces and scenic urban backdrop make it a premier destination for local pet owners seeking a high-quality outdoor experience.

It's a nice park, just off Swan Street. It is suitable for dogs and has a walking path.

Great place for dogs to run around and dig holes, rather than destroying the only sporting field (Alan Bain) with dog holes, dog poo and chewed up sticks left behind for sporting kids parents to tend to.
