Elwood Beach Dog Off Leash Area
67 Ormond Esplanade, Elwood, VIC
Elwood Beach Dog Off Leash Area provides a diverse recreational space for dogs and their owners, combining a large grassy field with a scenic beach frontage. The grassy section is bordered by a chain-link fence with wooden posts, offering a secure environment for off-leash exercise. Beyond the fence, the area transitions into a wide, sandy beach where dogs can enjoy digging in the sand and swimming in the calm bay waters. The park offers expansive views of the Melbourne skyline across the water, making it a picturesque location, especially during sunset. While the beach itself is open, the adjacent parkland includes a playground and mature trees that provide some natural shade. The overall atmosphere is vibrant and social, catering to dogs of all sizes who enjoy both land and water activities. The surface is a mix of well-maintained grass and soft beach sand, providing varied textures for play. Although specific amenities like benches or water stations aren't prominently featured in these views, the sheer scale of the off-leash area is a major draw.

Disappointed that it's listed as an off leash beach, that's the only reason we went there, but it wasn't. Dog's not allowed on sand only on leash on walking track. Water didn't look the best but as it's an inner city beach it's possibly to be expected same for the toilets.

Need to have more flexibility in allowing dogs to enjoy the beaches too. Dogs only allowed for brief periods in the morning during peak summer is a joke.
Great place to take your dog
Expensive parking and not dog friendly.
Not really a dog beach. Had to go to Brighton instead. Too many people and sign saying no dogs on beach.
