The Esplanade Lorn Dog Off-Leash Area is a scenic and functional riverside park situated along the Hunter River in Lorn. The facility features a large, securely fenced enclosure with a black chain-link perimeter, ensuring a safe space for dogs to exercise off-leash. The primary ground surface is well-kept grass, providing a soft area for play, while the adjacent riverbank offers sandy sections for dogs that enjoy the water. For human visitors, the park includes a substantial wooden picnic shelter with multiple tables and benches, offering a comfortable spot to rest in the shade. Mature trees within the fenced area provide additional natural shade. The atmosphere is peaceful and open, characterized by its proximity to the water and views of the surrounding historic architecture. While the park lacks specialized agility equipment or visible lighting, its generous size and basic amenities make it a popular local spot for pet owners. The combination of fenced grass areas and accessible riverfront makes it a versatile destination for various dog activities.

I was told to be careful of your dog jumping in and swimming opposite the car park as there are old broken trolleys submerged and a few dogs have died, apparently you can see them on low tide. Other than that it’s a lovely place to walk along the river with your dog.

Great place to bring the dogs for a run and swim on a sunny day. Bit of a mess after the floods I'm guessing but it makes one hell of a fun play area for doggos.
