Lewisham West dog off-leash area
Hudson St, Lewisham, NSW
The Lewisham West dog off-leash area is a purpose-built, linear urban park nestled between a railway line and contemporary residential developments. This narrow but functional space is fully enclosed by secure black chain-link fencing, ensuring a safe environment for dogs to exercise off-leash. The park's terrain is a mix of surfaces; newer sections boast lush green grass and landscaped rock edges, while other areas feature more durable dirt and mulch. Significant natural shade is provided by a variety of mature trees that line the length of the run, making it comfortable during warmer days. For human visitors, several sturdy wooden and metal benches are strategically placed throughout the area. Essential amenities are well-provided, including a dedicated dog water station with an integrated bowl, and specialized waste bins equipped with bag dispensers to encourage cleanliness. While the park lacks large open fields for long-distance fetching, its unique corridor-like layout offers a great space for social interaction and scent work. An adjacent playground area with rubber soft-fall surfacing is available for families, though it remains separate from the dog-specific enclosure.

Is there water/ where’s the water? I asked several people & no one had seen a dog fountain. Excellent park & already well patronised but no water REALLY. Also no dog poop bag dispensers. Not great planning for a dog park.
