1A Young St, Carrington, NSW

4.4(50 reviews)

Carrington Dog Off-Leash Area is a spacious and scenic recreational park located in Carrington, Australia, offering a diverse environment for dogs and their owners. The park is characterized by its expansive, open grassy fields that provide a large space for dogs to run and exercise freely. The terrain is primarily flat, making it accessible for various activities. Mature trees are situated along the perimeter and within the park, offering significant natural shade, while park benches are available for owners to sit and supervise their pets. A unique feature of this location is its proximity to a waterway, featuring mangroves and a metal-grated pier that provides a tranquil coastal atmosphere. While a chain-link fence is visible along certain boundaries to separate the park from residential areas, the space maintains an open and airy feel. The ground surface is predominantly natural grass, with some gravel and dirt areas near the entrance that appear to serve as informal parking. The surrounding views include a mix of residential housing, industrial skylines, and nearby railway infrastructure.

It really is that, just an off leash area but not really one I like letting off the leash as it's still close to Young Street and Elozabeth Street. It's a nice gathering spot and would be great spot if it was fenced. Thye just don't do dog parks in Newcastle like they do in Qld.

Beautiful area but better to have dog on leash. Off leash part was smaller than photos indicate and signage was poor.
